Meet Matt Shoup

Thank you for stopping by my page.  To be honest, sixteen years ago, I never thought I would be sharing this story with you today.  In 2003, I graduated from Colorado State University, married my college sweetheart, Emily, in 2004, and by 2005 was six figures in debt with a corporate mortgage banking job I despised.

Today, I am so lucky and blessed to have an amazing Leadership Team and team at M & E Painting that is dedicated to running the company alongside Emily and I.  This video below shares a little more regarding my journey from 2003 to 2020. (BONUS: there are stories of things we have done to grow M & E Painting which are pretty funny, as well some high value business tips for any of you who are entrepreneurs).

More About Matt

In March of 2005, I was “let go” from my corporate banking job (we never really got along anyway). Looking back, it was the best thing that ever happened to me, however, at the time I was scared, yet encouraged beyond belief to go make things happen.  I decided that day I would never work for a boss again.

I quickly founded M & E Painting with the last $100 I had to my name.  A few years in, we got our heads above water enough for me to breathe, and in 2007, I decided I wanted to build a business that would work for me, not the other way around. At that moment, I got very intentional about my business, why it exists, my for it vision, and the action plan to get there.  I set very big goals to grow a phenomenal brand in the community, give back to the community and team that serve me, as well as allow others to grow, thrive and advance within the company. “We exist to enhance the community by inspiring leaders to impact lives” We just happen to paint houses.

To date, our company has completed roughly $35 million of house painting in Northern Colorado, done some really cool things in our community, and inspired many other entrepreneurs to do the same.  Along my journey, I realized my gift is to inspire and ignite other  entrepreneurs to accomplish their dreams, goals and aspirations. Alongside M & E Painting, I also run 4 other companies: MattShoup.comRiRy, makers of the Pirate PatchM & E Real Estate Ventures (where I am a Realtor with C3 Real Estate Solutions), and Northern Colorado Jiu Jitsu.

When I am not running my companies, I enjoy spending with my lovely wife, Emily, my 12-year-old son, Riley, and my 9-year-old daughter, Hailey.  We love to travel, especially to Spain, and just spend time together. I am also very passionate about, training and teaching Brazilian jiu jitsu. I teach adults, children and law enforcement at our academy Northern Colorado Jiu Jitsu. I currently hold my Brazilian jiu jitsu brown belt under Grand Master Rigan Machado. Curious what jiu jitsu is?  Here are some videos of me competing.

I hope my story inspires and encourages you!  Whether you reached out to learn more about me, M & E Painting or were just clicking around on our website, I am glad you landed here.

I look forward to connecting with you.
